We Have Winners!

May 16, 2011

The Top Commentator Contest has ended a few hours ago. I am just so sorry I didn’t post the ending on time. I fell asleep. It must be the jet lag.

It was fun reading all the comments. I am sure it’s fun for my 3 top contenders too.

And the time has come…

To announce the winners.

Okay. I said I will give 20$ to the top commentator and I said I will only have one winner.

But seeing how 3 of them made an effort to win, I’m going to have top 3 winners. (I just feel so generous, that’s all)

Mel Cole of  Hearts Content of a Mama bagged the 20$, being the top commentator with a whooping 740 comments.

Genefaith of Her and His Story comes second with 328 comments and I am giving her 10$.

Jes Lising of New Home Sweet Home comes third with 227 comments and she gets 5$ for that.

Congratulations to my Top 3 Commentators.

You guys made my trip more special by journeying with me… even through my previous journeys. It’s fun reading all the comments. It’s a good time of remembrance for me as I also read the posts you guys were commenting in.

Thank you so much!

P.S. Will you give me your paypal id so I can send you your prizes? Thanks again!

May you guys travel with me next time on my next trip. After all, this Travel Diva has a wanderlust and all she dreams about is traveling. LOL.

My contest is going to end soon so although I still have some things to talk about while in Atlanta, I have to post my Colorado Springs adventure first.

My husband went to Colorado Springs first for a 9-day meeting. I stayed back with friends in Atlanta and flew in to Colorado Springs only after Peter finished his meetings.

It was my first time traveling alone within the US so I was a bit nervous. And you know if you’ve been to Atlanta airport, they have a huge one. You have to take a train to go your boarding gate.

Anyways, I flew via Frontier Airlines (it was a 3-hour flight) and had a 10-minute transit in Denver, Colorado. Took another Frontier plane that would take me to Colorado Springs. It was a 30-minute flight but the flight was very bumpy so it felt longer than that.

When you’re traveling long distance, the plane would be flying at 30,000ft high… but when you’re flying at a short distance, the plane only flies 15,000 feet above the ground. That’s what I discovered. So we had a lot of turbulence flying to Colorado Springs.

But it was a relief to see my husband waiting for me at the airport. We rented a car and he drove us both to YWAM (Youth with a Mission) Center.

The place overlooks a majestic Pikes Peak view.

He wanted to welcome me with a big bang so he took me for a nice dinner at Black-eyed Pea restaurant.

He took me to Applebee’s the next day for lunch.

Then we drove to Garden of the gods. It was magnificent.

We hiked around Garden of the Gods and I saw this. A couple doing rock climbing! I saw them kissing and took out my camera but when I was ready shoot, they already stopped. But I really thought it was the most romantic thing to do.

I saw another spectacular moment: a mother and son rock climbing. If you can see on top of the rock, that’s the mother waiting for his probably 10-year old son catching up on her, on the left side of the rock.

Garden of the gods is truly mesmerizing. We couldn’t help but kiss, too. That’s our share in making a scene. LOL. Anyways, it was truly dazzling to be in Colorado Springs.

We stayed here for 3 days, drove around, admiring God’s creation. It was magical, I should say.

I thank God for the chance to see this spectacular place. No wonder they use this location a lot in romance novels. I remember Danielle Steel had one of hers located in Colorado Springs.

Beautiful, indeed.

Lenox Mall, Atlanta

May 15, 2011

If there was one thing I could do over and over while in the US is to visit Victoria Secret and Banana Republic. In Atlanta, I could visit both at the same time at Lenox Mall. Lenox Mall is a high end mall. So you only get to see branded boutiques.

Since there’s no Victoria Secret outlet in Malaysia, I would always go and buy me some while in the US. My favorite scent is Love Spell. So I bought a few of those. Those were my first purchase. I had to make sure I had those before I buy something else. :)

Banana Republic perfume (it has to be Classic) has always been my favorite perfume. So after visiting Victoria Secret, I would go to Banana Republic store. It’s just on the opposite side of VS store.

In the US, buying can be tricky sometimes. If it says a product costs something like 45.00$, you must remember that it’s excluding tax. So you have to prepare more than 45$. And so, depending on which state you are shopping, you have to know how much their sales tax is.
